RAYMOND J. MACKENZIE

MOUNT OLIVE -- Raymond Joseph MacKenzie, 80, of West Pine Forest subdivision, died at home on Thursday, Nov. 15.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Angels Catholic Church, Highway 117 South, Mount Olive, and will be led by Father James F. Garneau. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, after which the family will receive friends back at the church.

This New Jersey native was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a parishioner at St. Mary's Church of Mount Olive, and was a retired foreman and supervisor at Dewey Brothers in Goldsboro.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lara Strickland MacKenzie of the home; a son, Kenneth MacKenzie of New Jersey; a stepson, Charles E. Chestnutt and wife, Jeanie, of Murfreesboro; three stepdaughters, Connie Casteen and husband, Jerry, of Goldsboro, Eugenia Millen and husband, Ray, of Grantham, and Laurie Jenkins and husband, John, of Summerville, Fla.; a special cousin, Pat Santoro and husband, Dr. Anthony Santoro, of Metuchen, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond V. MacKenzie; and his parents, Al MacKenzie and Julia Monahan MacKenzie, and he was their only child.

Arrangements are with Tyndall Funeral Home, Mount Olive.
