Betsy Outland Brown, 81, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at her home.
Betsy was born in Johnston County Feb. 24, 1931, to the late Benjamin Rush Outland and Nancy Jane Little Outland. She was married to the late Joseph Edward Brown.
Betsy had worked with Goldsboro Record Co. for 23 years, and was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service of remembrance at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with pastor Alice Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Betsy is survived by her daughters, Sheryl B. Nicol and husband, John, of Gastonia, Betty Jo Brown of Goldsboro and Kim B. Tewksbury of Asheville; son, Joseph Shan Brown of Goldsboro; her sisters, Virginia Slate of Richmond, Va., and Marie Herring of Goldsboro; and her grandchildren, Christy Smith and Matthew Tewksbury.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Brown, and her brother-in-law, Harold Brown.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Cato, Edna Earle Lane and Lois Newman, and her brothers, Chester Outland and Jim Outland.
