KATHRYN M. BRIDGERS

Kathryn Miller Bridgers, 63, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday surrounded by her family.

She was born in Wilmington, and was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Louise Stowell Miller, and was married to Dale Bridgers.

She moved to Goldsboro in the mid 1950s, and in 1967 she graduated from Goldsboro High School. She graduated from Watts Hospital School of Professional Nursing in Durham as a registered nurse in 1971.

Much of her early nursing career was spent out of state.

In 1978 she returned to Goldsboro, and was employed with Wayne Memorial Hospital until she moved to the private practice of Dr. Ashton Griffin in 1994.

After Dr. Griffin's retirement in 2008, she went to work at Kitty Askins Hospice Center as a charge nurse until her retirement in 2010 due to failing health.

Kathy was also a big lover of animals, especially her beloved dog, Mollie.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Family members will greet friends at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by a son, Matt Bridgers of Goldsboro; a brother, Karl Miller of Mount Olive; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
