IVEY L. ATCHISON

LAGRANGE -- Ivey Lovan Atchison, 82, LaGrange, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012.

Ivey served six years with the United States Marine Corps.

He lived in Galveston, Texas, for 45 years, and was the owner/operator of Ivey's Service Center.

While living in Galveston, Ivey was a member of the Galveston Noon Optimist Club. He served several terms as president, and also served as Lieutenant governor for the Southeastern Texas District.

He later retired to LaGrange, where he was the owner/operator of Ash Street Automotive for several years.

Ivey was a member of the Marine Corps League.

He enjoyed traveling in his recreational vehicle, working in his yard/workshop and, most of all, cherished time spent with his family.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Cobb Cemetery.

Ivey is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Evelyn Greene Atchison; two daughters, M. Sue Gorman of LaGrange and Lori A. Weller and husband, Keith, of Great Barrington, Mass.; six grandchildren, Justin Gorman, Kaitlin Stafford and husband, Ryan, Merry Weller, Jordan Ivey Weller and wife, Evangeline, Hayley Weller and Braedan Weller; four great-grandchildren, Rocklin Stafford, Ruby Jade Stafford, Bear A. Milling and Avery Brooke Gorman; and a brother, Joe Atchison of Alta Loma, Texas.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the graveside service.
