WILLIAM A. "BILL" ETHRIDGE

NEWTON -- William A. "Bill" Ethridge, 73, of Newton, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Newton.
Born March 6, 1939, in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Carl Ethridge and Mary Sasser Ethridge.
Mr. Ethridge was a 1962 graduate of Atlantic Christian College, now known as Barton College, where he worked his way through school. In the summer of that year he was medically discharged from the USN Flight school in Pensacola, Fla. He then taught physics and math for three and a half years at Gaston Technical Institute in Gastonia. In 1966 he entered into the textiles industry where he worked for nine and half years, five of which with Beaunit Corporation, where he was the manager of the Corporate Cost Accounting and all plant accounting in four states and Puerto Rico. He then worked for State Farm Insurance as their Newton agent for 31 years, from 1975 to 2006, where he won many sales honors, thanks to a superb staff.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Lottie J. Ethridge of the home; two sons, David A. Ethridge and wife, Carole, of Chatham, N.J., Jonathan M. Ethridge of Newton; grandchildren, Sarah B. Ethridge, Charlotte R. Ethridge, William R. Ethridge, all of Chatham, N.J., Michael A. Ethridge of Newton; and a brother, Leonard Carroll Ethridge and wife, Linda, of Goldsboro.
