WARSAW -- Allen Vann Morrisey, an educator and horseman, 176 Sam Miller Road, Warsaw, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, with a dear friend, Angela Taylor, and sister, Marzella Morrisey, by his side at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Douglas Warsaw Middle School, 738 W. College St., Warsaw, with the Rev. Leslie Morrisey officiating. Burial will follow at Vann Family Cemetery.
Family members will greet friends Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Garris Funeral Home, 812 S. Center St., Mount Olive, from 6 to 9 p.m. and other times at his home.
Allen is survived by his mother, Mary Vann Morrisey; sisters, Marzella Morrisey (William) and Ruby Annette Hatcher (Lionel); and brother, Johnnie Morrisey of Warsaw (Raymonda of Leesburg, Va.); two nieces, Melanie Morrisey and Patria Sanchez of Manassas, Va.; two nephews, Johnnie Ray Tibbs Morrisey of Manassas, Va., and Jason Chin Morrisey of Leesburg, Va.; two great-nieces, LaQueshia and Damariza Sanchez; a special nephew, Jonathan Allen Vann Morrisey; and a special horse, Wimpy Bar Jack "Buddy."
