EDNA JONES DEANS

Edna Jones Deans died peacefully Sept. 13, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family. She is now dancing on the streets of glory.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m., at Victory Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be held today, Sept. 16, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Faye and Louis Quinn.

She was born in Tarboro on Dec. 11, 1921, to the late William Thad and Nellie Warren Jones.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Walter Bennett "Bud" Deans; her brother, Otis Lee Jones; two sisters, Helen Jones Sutton and Evelyn Dean Howell; and a very special companion of 14 years, Herbert Wheeler.

She is survived by her son, Walter B. "Benny" Deans Jr. and wife, Shirley; her daughter, Faye Deans Norman Quinn and husband, Louis; her sister, Pearl Herring; her grandchildren, Kim Norman Johnson (Ricky), Tracy Norman McKeel (Ken), Jackie Norman Lewis (Kemp), Walter B. "Trey" Deans III (Joanne), Brooke Deans Lawrence (Chris); 10 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
