BETTY BROCK

STEDMAN -- Betty Dean Guy Brock, 72, Stedman, died Monday, Sept. 3, at Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville.

Betty was a longtime resident of the Summerlin's Crossroads community in Mount Olive until recent years, where she resided in Stedman because of her declining health, and received continuous loving care from her daughter, Sandra Jackson and family.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with pastor Bobby Smith and the Rev., as well as longtime friend, James Earl Herring, officiating.

Visitation will immediately follow the service.

At other times, the family will receive family and friends at the home of Ronald and Lori Brock, 123 Durwood Holmes Lane, Mount Olive.

Betty was a lifelong servant of the Lord. She was an active member of Brock's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mount Olive for many years, and a life member of Warsaw Pentecostal Holiness Church in Warsaw.

She had a great love for children and young people, and she made them her priority in church by organizing and directing numerous Christmas plays, Bible schools, youth church outings and many youth meetings focusing on the love of God for his children.

Betty enjoyed life. She loved traveling, cooking, bowling, and in her younger years, she loved playing softball. Her greatest past-time was spending time with her four grandchildren whom she loved very much.

She was founder and the first president of the Oak Wolfe Volunteer Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary.

She was also very proud of being the first hired employee of Guilford Mills in Kenansville, where she eventually retired after 30 plus years.

She also worked part time at Britt's Seafood and TG&Y in Mount Olive for several years where she met many friends.

Betty was married to the love of her life and the father of her children, the late Ronald Elwood Brock, for 21 years.

She is survived by her two children, Ronald Allen Brock and wife, Lori, of Mount Olive and Sandra Brock Jackson and husband, Ray, of Stedman; her grandchildren, Michael Brock and wife, Keneva, of LaGrange, Christopher Brock of Mount Olive, Jeremy Jackson and wife, Leah, of Raleigh and Kayla Jackson of Wilmington; her great-grandchildren, Bella Brock, Avery Brock, Keiz Brock and Zuri Brock; her sister, Judy Casteen and husband, John, of Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are two special cousins, Jody Wilkins and Evelyn Chestnut, and three special friends, Carrie Mae Pate, Doris Pate and Nellie Dail, all of Mount Olive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Winnie Guy, as well as her two brothers, James Preston Guy and Kenneth Guy.
