JANIE MAE BATTEN MCFATTER

April 21, 1935-Aug. 7, 2012

Janie Mae Batten McFatter passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late David and Effie Pulley Batten.

She attended Unity Free Will Baptist Church in Wilson.

A celebration of her life will be held at Unity Free Will Baptist Church, 2200 Downing St. in Wilson Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Rev. Fred Carraway will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday in Selma Memorial Gardens, 1350 S. Pollock St., Selma.

Janie is survived by her husband, Ralph, of 60 years; two sons, Terry McFatter and wife, Pat, of Brandon, Fla., and the Rev. Tim McFatter of Wilson; four granddaughters; a great-grandson; and a sister, Ruth Russell of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Perry Wilbert Batten of Selma.

The family will receive friends following the service Wednesday at the church and other times at 141 Perkins Road, Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Unity Free Will Baptist Church, Media Project, P.O. Box 7201, Wilson, N.C., 27895-7201.

Arrangements are by Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
