CHRISTINE S. SMITH

Christine Singleton Smith, 76, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Wayne Memorial Park.
Christine was born in Wayne County on May 11, 1935, to the late Broadie Major Singleton and Lillie Grant Singleton. She was a member of Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church where she was active in her Sunday School class and her Senior Citizen's group.
Christine is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Harold Smith; her daughter, Pamela Smith Brantley; her son-in-law, David Brantley; her son, Michael James Smith; her grandchildren, Scott Brantley, Kate Brantley, Steven Brantley, and Luke Smith. She is also survived by her sisters, Mildred Bailey of Knightdale, Rachel Bush of Muncie, Ind., and Ann Bain of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and her brothers, Billy Singleton of Muncie, Ind., and Bobby Singleton of Goldsboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Miller; as well as her brothers, Milford Singleton, Kirby Singleton, Alvin Singleton, and Harold Singleton.
