LAGRANGE -- Frances Byrd Harrison, 101, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Mrs. Harrison was born September 23, 1910 in Institute to the late George Allen Byrd Sr. and Alice Fields Byrd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leamon Wilson Harrison Sr.; son, Leamon Wilson Harrison Jr. and grandson, Jeffrey Robert Harrison.

Mrs. Harrison was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, Kinston First Ward, where she has been active in the Relief Society and Primary. She was a woman who believed in hard work and enjoyed time spent outside tending to her flowers and garden. In earlier years, Mrs. Harrison enjoyed sewing, quilting and genealogy.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. from The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, Kinston with Bishop Rich Jarman officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Harrison is survived by four children, Mattie Kate Harrison Aycock and husband, Nelson G. of Chapel Hill, Alice Day Harrison Crandell and husband, Chester J. of Heber, Ariz., Carlton Reid Harrison Sr. and wife, Glenn of LaGrange and George Ann Harrison Pressley of Eatonton, Georgia; five siblings, Vera Baker of Kinston, Evelyn Sugg of LaGrange, George A. Byrd Jr. of Snow Hill, Alice Cerasia of Passaic, N.J. and Jennings Byrd of Wendover, Nev.; 17 grandchildren, Angela Isgett, Wendy Miller, Erin Anderson, Jeremy Aycock, Jason Aycock, L.J. Crandell, Troy Crandell, Leon Crandell, Marcie Franco, Charlene Mills, Jonathan Crandell, Caroline Crum, Andrew Crandell, Katie Kartchner, Carlton Reid Harrison Jr., Michael Paul Harrison and Sara Frances Pressley; and 38 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.
