JANE B. LAMM

BATH -- Jane Benton Lamm, 76, resident of Bath, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Vidant Pungo Hospital.

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Lamm was born Nov. 26, 1935, in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Rev. Edgar and Estelle Benton. She was the oldest of six siblings.

She attended Wilson School of Nursing, and received her RN degree. She devoted her life to serving others through her many years of nursing at Wilson Medical, Wayne Memorial and Pungo District Hospitals.

During her career, she enjoyed sharing her passion with her peers, working as an educator for emergency medicine. She touched many lives through her dedication to the medical profession, and her legacy will live on in the lives of those whom she has taught and served.

She married her soul mate, Vance Thomas Langley, in 1992 and spent many happy years together residing by the Pamlico River and traveling weekends to the Outer Banks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vance Thomas Langley; son, Dr. Larry O. Lamm; and two siblings, George D. Benton and Thelma Bissette.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Victoria L. and Timothy R. Barnes of Lucama; daughter-in-law, Heidi Lamm of South Bend, Ind.; three stepdaughters and three stepsons; brothers, Bennie Benton (Cheryl) of Pikeville and Jesse Benton (Linda) of Wilson; sister, Becky Rosen (Hank) of Goldsboro; and two grandsons, Second Lt. Steven R. Barnes of Lucama and Adam G. Lamm of South Bend, Ind.

As a tribute to her life, contributions can be made to the Jane B. Lamm Memorial Fund at P.O. Box 10, Kenly, N.C., 27542. This fund is established to assist emergency room patients at Vidant Pungo Hospital with needs for transportation or clothing associated with accident or injury that brought them to the ER.
