Roosevelt Curry Jr. was born April 6, 1947, in Darien, Ga. He departed this life March 29, 2012, in Goldsboro.
"Bug," as he was called by his family, and "Rosey" or "Chief" to his friends, served 28 years in the United States Air Force, and retired at the rank of chief master sergeant.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted family, wife, Ernestine Brown Curry of the home; four daughters, Karen Rigsby of Atlanta, Danielle Wright-Curry of London, UK, Rachel Curry of Omaha and Michelle Curry of Raleigh; a son, Daniel Curry of Royston, U.K.; two stepdaughters, Jenelle (Chris) Swann and Jenise Brown of Charlotte; a brother, Gibb (Vannie) Walker Jr.; three sisters, Margret Bailey, Etheyln Hutchins and Brenda (Robert) Richardson all of Savannah, Ga., four grandchildren; three uncles; three aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Roosevelt's life will take place Friday at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 4:45 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Heritage Hall at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Graveside service and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery April 11, 2012, at 9 a.m.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Marie Banks Walker and Gibb Walker Sr., and his sister, Gwendolyn.
