Gaynell Mitchell Potter, 70, died Sunday at home.

She was born in Wayne County to the late Theodore and Peggy Boyette Mitchell, and was married to J.R. Potter.

She was a member of Goldsboro Worship Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brogden Chapel Church Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends immediately following the funeral service Wednesday evening, and at other times will be at the home of Marilyn G. Wallace, 299 Black Jack Church Road, Goldsboro.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, John Potter Jr. of Goldsboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn G. and Mike Wallace of Goldsboro, Yvonne P. Pittman of Goldsboro and Debbie P. and James Farmer Jr. of Raleigh; a stepdaughter, Angel P. Brothers of Maryland; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Bill Shanle of Rosewood, Edna Hood of Grantham and Jackie and Robert Walters of Rosewood; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
