LOLA B. SAULS
May 3, 1916-Jan. 6, 2012
Mrs. Lola B. Sauls, daughter of the late James Raynor and Hattie Cole Raynor, was born May 3, 1916, in Johnston County. She departed this life Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at the Brian Center in Goldsboro.
She was married to William Sauls, and to this union three children were born. After which she was widowed at a young age and left to raise the children on her own.
Ms. Bea worked many jobs before retiring from Cherry Hospital in 1978 after 20 years of service.
She was multi-talented as a very good cook, seamstress, hand craftsman and piano player. She never missed an opportunity to entertain her guests with her musical ability or talk about the goodness of the Lord.
She had been a member of Greater Guiding Star Holiness Church for more than 50 years.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; five siblings, Golden Jacobs, Waverly Raynor, James Raynor, Annie Swinson and William Raynor; and two sons, William Sauls and Robert Sauls.
She leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Ora Mae Cole; a brother, Hubert Raynor; a daughter, Mae Gloria Lucas; a daughter-in-law, Beatrice Sauls of Boston, Mass.; seven grandchildren whom she helped raise, Kenneth (Alice) Sauls of Goldsboro, Levonza Speight, Derrick (Vera) Sauls of Raleigh, Valantrice (George) Sauls Malloy of Greensboro, Anthony Sauls, Alvento Sauls and William T. Sauls of Boston, Mass.; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; family friend, Linda Faye Sauls; attentive caretaker, Cheryl Uzzardo; and other friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at E. M. Matthews Funeral Home, 401 N. William St., Goldsboro.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Greater Guiding Star United Holy Church, 1114 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro.
Following the services in the sanctuary, Mrs. Sauls' delicate temple, along with her adored family, will be escorted to Elmwood Cemetery for interment rites.
Mrs. Sauls' earthen vessel is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, where the Sauls and connected families are receiving prestigious service.
