Hilda Inez Buffalo, the daughter of the late Lawyer Lewis and Glennie Sauls Lewis, was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Wayne County. She departed this life Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the Brian Center.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Willie Buffalo Sr. To this union three children were born.
She leaves to cherish precious memories of her life a son, Willie Buffalo (Janie) of Philadelphia, Pa.; two daughters, Barbara Ann Moses of Goldsboro and Carolyn Jean Buffalo of the home; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, 401 N. William St.
A homegoing service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at noon at New Stoney Hill Holy Church, 1003 Poplar St., with elder Howard E. McNair officiating. Interment will follow at Old Mill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at other times at the residence, 603 S. Andrews Ave., where it will also assemble in preparation for funeral procession.
The Buffalo and connected families are receiving prestigious service from the president and staff of E. M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Inc.
