MILDRED KELLY SLOAN

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mildred Kelly Sloan, 89, passed away Sunday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Sloan was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive, and was retired from Mount Olive College cafeteria.

She had been a longtime resident of North Chestnut Street in Mount Olive, then Glen-Care of Mount Olive, and was currently a resident of The Pines of Goldsboro.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and John Pate of Pikeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Leona Sloan of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Leigh Kasin and husband, Stuart, and Rhianna Sloan; a great-grandson, Ben Kasin; a brother, Nelson Kelly of Greensboro; a sister, Norma K. Albritton of Calypso; a special friend, Rebecca Troutman; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Jean Carol Sloan; her husband, Marion Sloan; her parents, John William Kelly and Bessie Meyers Kelly; and several siblings.

Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with Dr. Dennis Atwood officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour before the service.

Flowers are welcome; however, memorial gifts may be made to one's favorite charity.
