Araminta "Nymph" Kirby Lancaster, 82, passed away on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

The family will receive friends today, Jan. 8, 2012, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Barry Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Family Cemetery. The family at other times will be at the home of Carrie and Randy Powell, 104 Amblewood Lane.

Nymph was born in Wayne County on Nov. 2, 1929, to the late Barney and Leckie Musgrave Kirby. She was married to the late Lemley Harold Lancaster who preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2000. She had worked at Weil's Department Store, but most of all, her devotion was to her family and friends. Nymph will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mama, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to so many. She was a longtime member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ambassador Sunday School Class and the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group. For many years, Nymph enjoyed being a member of the Home Demonstration Club.

Nymph is survived by her daughters, DeLena L. Roscoe and husband, Ronnie, Carrie L. Powell and husband, Randy, and Leckie L. Scott and husband, Spencer, all of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Dean Roscoe and wife, Jo, Robby Braswell and wife, Rachel, Amber S. Hawkins and husband, Chad, Nora P. Mills and husband, Brandon, and Shane Powell and friend, Jackie; and her great-grandchildren, Michael Roscoe, Hunter Roscoe, Gabe Braswell, Caleb Braswell, Katelyn Braswell and Andersen Mills. She is also survived by her sister, Lexine Williams of Morganton and her special friend from the Pines, Betty Cooke.
