Gary Tyre White, 74, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Durham Regional Hospital.

Gary was born in Elkins, W. Va., Sept. 21, 1937, to the late Bernard and Nellie Tyre White.

He worked with the city of Goldsboro for more than 33 years.

Mr. White was a member of Wayne Masonic Lodge 112 and a Shriner, where he served as secretary for many years, and was a member Adamsville Baptist Church.

He was a member of Goldsboro Elks Lodge 139 BPOE, a lifetime member of Goldsboro Rescue Squad and was a member of the Goldsboro Fireman's breakfast group.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at 3 p.m. with Masonic Rites at Wayne Memorial Park, with
the Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating.

Mr. White is survived by his wife, Patsy Sauls White, and their children, Mary Margaret Walsh and husband, Michael, of Raleigh and Carolyn Lockhart and husband, Todd, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.

He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Brooks of Maryland.

Mr. White is survived by his three grandchildren, Ryan Walsh, Will Walsh and Catherine Lockhart. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret Anderson of Goldsboro, and his brothers-in-law, Bud Best of Goldsboro and Arnold Chestnut of Dunn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David White, and sisters-in-law, Helen VanBenthuysen, Eva Best and Jewel Chestnut; and his brothers-in-law, Richard VanBenthuysen and David Anderson.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Adamsville Baptist Church at 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Shriners' Children's Hospital at 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, S.C., 29605-4277.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
