LAGRANGE -- Isaac Edwards, 73, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Isaac was born in Wayne County Sept. 8, 1938, to the late Mark S. and Nellie Langley Edwards.

He worked with the sheriff's office, served as a United States marshal and worked as an SBI agent for the State of North Carolina, where he retired.

Isaac served his country as a United States Marine.

He was a former member of New Hope Fire Department.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Lee and the Rev. J. Wesley Jarman officiating. Interment will be Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. with military honors at Hill Family Cemetery on Jeffrey Drive in the New Hope community.

Isaac is survived by his wife, Jean C. Edwards; his son, Dwayne Edwards and wife, Tammie, of LaGrange; his daughter, Danine Dawson and husband, Brad, of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Jeremy Edwards, Ryan Adams, Raini Adams and River Adams.

He is also survived by his sisters, Evelyn Carlyle of LaGrange and JoAnn Gray and husband, Ronald M. "Bud," of LaGrange; his sister-in-law, Peggy Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Tyson; his brother, William Earl Edwards; and brothers-in-law, Sam Carlyle and the Rev. Aaron Tyson.

The family will receive friends following the service Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at home.
