Brenda Allen Taylor, 62, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Brenda was born in Wayne County Aug. 31, 1949, to James Edward Allen of Goldsboro and the late Pauline Creech Allen.

She worked as a speech pathologist for many years, and had served special needs children for the past 18 years at Edgewood Developmental School. Brenda has always enjoyed her work with children, and she used this opportunity to make a difference in their lives.

She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.

A service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church, with pastor Terry Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In addition to her father, Brenda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Don Taylor; her daughter, Ashley Taylor Aguilar and fiancé, Brent Womble, of High Point; her brother, Brent Allen and wife, Rhonda, of Mobile, Ala.; her aunt, Tempie C. Hare; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Whitney Shea Taylor.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Whitney Shea Taylor Teaching Scholarship at Providence United Methodist Church, 202 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at her home, 627 Deer Acres Drive in Goldsboro.
