Walter Palmore Brill Jr., 90, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Walter was born in Baldwin County, Ala., Dec. 11, 1921, to the late Walter P. Brill Sr. and Mattie Waters Brill. He was married to the late Mary Elizabeth Deans Brill.

Walter served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and was a retired minister, having served the Pentecostal Holiness denomination for more than 50 years.

He also owned and operated Brill Upholstery in Goldsboro for more than 64 years.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., with bishop Jimmy Whitfield officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army at the cemetery.

Walter is survived by his sons, Tony Brill and wife, Sue, of Mount Olive, James Brill and wife, Phyllis, of Goldsboro, Tim Brill of Jacksonville and Mike Brill and wife, Beth, of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Tonya and Michelle.
