Frank Levion Daniels Jr., 67, 107 Dogwood Court, departed his earthly life peacefully after a lengthy illness Nov. 20, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Wayne County Nov. 10, 1944, to the late Rev. Frank Levion Sr. and Janie L. Williamson Daniels.

He graduated from Dillard High School in 1963, and completed two years at Fayetteville State University.

He left college and was drafted into the United States Army in 1965, and was stationed in Korea.

After he was honorably discharged, he moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., and worked for the New York City Transit Authority for 15 years.

He returned to his hometown, and was a civil servant at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base from 1981 until he retired in 2008.

He was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Olive, where he served on the usher board.

Prior to joining St. Luke, he was a member of Holly Green Missionary Baptist Church in Dudley, where he served on the usher board, sang in the male chorus and attended Sunday school.

He was joined in marriage to Claretha Baker of Kinston Aug. 30, 1971.

In addition to Claretha, he leaves to cherish his memory three children, Anita Best of Goldsboro, Frank Levion Daniels III (Natalie) of Augusta, Ga., and Waltrye Tamar Daniels of Wilson; three grandchildren, Michael Best Jr. of Hinesville, Ga., Antia Best of Goldsboro and Aliza Jordan Daniels of Augusta, Ga.; two sisters, Bessie D. Jones of Goldsboro and Sadie D. Height (George) of Zebulon; a brother, Hubert B. Daniels (Marion) of Goldsboro; four aunts, Mary Artis (Leroy) and Dorette Lee both of Washington, D.C., and Helen Daniels and Josephine Daniels, both of Goldsboro; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including Wesley "Bob" Shackleford Sr., Kim Fisher and other staff at WayneNet Non Emergency Transport.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rossie D. Edwards and Jannie D. Powell; and two brothers-in-law, Billie R. Edwards and Sylvester R. Powell.

The service will be held Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 3414 Summerlin Crossroads in Mount Olive at 11 a.m. The pastor, the Rev. James A. Davis, will officiate. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park, U.S. 117 South, Dudley.

The family will receive friends at 617 S. Claiborne St. in Goldsboro.
