Retired Master Sgt. Jerry Dan Parks, 75, Myrtle Road, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Burial with full military honors will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Parks was born in Union County, S.C., Sept. 5, 1936, to the late Robert and Lillie Kingsmore Parks.
He was retired after 24 years in the United States Air Force, having served tours in Vietnam, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
He was a member of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Chapel.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Dorothy Parks; three sons, Alan Parks of Goldsboro, Neil Parks and wife, Teresa, of Garner and Derek Parks and wife, Linda, of Raleigh; a daughter, Debra Luther and husband, Mike, of Utah; a brother, James R. Parks and wife, Gayle, of Union, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
The family would like to send a special thank you for the wonderful care given to "Mr. Dan" during his stay there.
