DOFFES "BOOM BOOM" EATMON SR.

Doffes "Boom Boom" Eatmon Sr. was born Sept. 14, 1940, to the late Willie Eatmon and Nettie Augustus Fault Everette Eatmon in Wilson County. He departed this life Nov. 2, 2011.
He lived his younger life in Wilson and Wayne counties.
He attended and graduated from Dillard High School, where he met the love of his life of 51 years, Cornelius Wilson Eatmon.
He went on to make a life for his family in Morristown, N.J., and returned back to Goldsboro and joined the Army National Guard. That was the beginning of a true "jack-of-all-trades."
Doffes was employed by Goldsboro Fire Department, and retired after 28 years of dedicated service; then joined the Air Force Reserve. He was a brick mason, painter, carpenter, worked in a funeral home, worked at the Wayne County Sheriff's Office as a detention officer and also was a licensed barber.
Doffes was an active member in the Masonic Lodge until he became ill.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nettie Augustus Faulk Everette Eatmon; his father, Willie Eatmon; his brother, Billy Everette; and his sister, Queen Esther Grantham.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Cornelius Wilson Eatmon; five children, Doffes (Nerva) Eatmon Jr. of Jonesboro, Ga., Phyllis D. (Kelvin) Cox of Raleigh, Sheila P. (Wilbert) Simms of Charlotte, Darryl Eatmon of Goldsboro and Espoinisa L. (Shaneka) Eatmon of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren, Monica, Jamal, Cortez, Demario, Raven, Ariyauna, Cameron, Jenesia, Rosina, Darryl Jr. and Aniya; seven great-grandchildren, Corimonte, Jaleel, Demario Jr., Antonio, Aniya, Santario and Zamari; four sisters, Dorcas Jackson of Morristown, N.J., Doris (James) Hines of Morristown, N.J., Dollie (Ernell) Salvage of Jacksonville and Johnny Mae Barefoot of Morristown, N.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, Nov. 6, 2011, at noon at Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 1314 Ben Brewington Court, Goldsboro. Following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Eatmon's delicate temple, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Eatmon's earthen vessel is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, where the Eatmon and connected families are receiving prestigious service.
