DONNIE WENDELL 'WINKIE' LITTLETON

Donnie W. "Winkie" Littleton went to be with his Lord and Savior at home with family present, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.

The family will receive visitors at other times at the residence at 8003 Comet Drive, Goldsboro.

Graveside services will be with military honors at Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, with the Rev. Richard Toler officiating.

Mr. Littleton was born and raised in Pikeville to the late Herman L. Littleton and Lillian Quinn Littleton.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, John R. Baggett; a sister, Ruth Virginia Littleton of Pikeville; and seven brothers, Herman, Gurney, John O, Forrest, I. Linley, Robert and Marvin Littleton all of Pikeville and Goldsboro.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Q. Littleton of Fremont, and a son-in-law, Timothy "Tim" W. Gregory of Goldsboro.

Donnie attended Pike's Cross Roads Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pikeville in his younger years.

He was a regional tractor-trailer driver for 25 years. He retired from AP Parts Co. and worked part time for Goldsboro Builder and Supply for 10 years.

He served in the Korean War with the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Nancy of the home; sons, Gary H. Littleton and wife, Virginia, of Elizabeth City and Dannie D. Littleton and wife, JoAnne, of Goldsboro; daughter, Vickie J. Hobbs of Fremont; stepchildren, William J Garnett and wife, Sharon, of Stevensville, Mont., Chet A. Garnett and wife, Rita, of Virginia Beach, Va., Pamela G. Gregory of Goldsboro and Michael K. Garnett and wife, Tracy, of Clayton; brother-in-law, Richard W. Engle and wife, Cindy, of Pikeville; sisters-in law, Betty Littleton of Pikeville and Doris Littleton of Goldsboro; 20 loving grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his beloved pets, Sissy and Coco.

Donnie is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many family members and cousins in Clinton.

The family would like to thank all of Donnie's physicians, Dr. Carmack and staff, Dr. Kemp and staff and Dr. Robertson of Duke Raleigh, for all their excellent medical care and a great thank-you to Community Health Care and Hospice for all its wonderful support and care.
