LAGRANGE -- John Wayne Bishop, 64, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011. John was born Aug. 7, 1947 in Gaston, Ala., and was preceded in death by his parents, Joe King Bishop and Sarah McCoy Bishop. John retired from the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired as a senior buyer with Kinston Neuse Corporation following 20-plus years of service, graduated from Saint Leo University with a degree in humanities and attended Trinity United Methodist Church. John enjoyed good conversation, cooking and deer hunting.
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Vito Bisogno officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange.
John is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Chase Bishop; two sons, Chad Lee Aldridge and wife, Olivia of Shelbyville, Mo., Steven Ray Aldridge of LaGrange; three grandchildren, Tucker Lee Aldridge, John Lawrence Aldridge and T.J. Hamm; along with a niece and two nephews, Allison Simpson, Brandon Wade and Chris Gallant.
The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service and at other times will be at the home.
