DUDLEY -- Sallie Hardy Smith, 84, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Smith will be at 3 p.m. Monday by the graveside at Wayne Memorial Park.

A native of Lenoir County, she was the daughter of the late Marion Langhorne and Elouise Kornegay Hardy. Mrs. Smith worked as a cashier at Smith Brother's Store and with her husband's business, Aaron Smith Trucking. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Aaron Smith; sons, Robert Aaron Smith and wife, Tonya, of Dudley, Danny Marion Smith and wife, Margey, of Goldsboro, and William Hardy Smith and wife, Faye, of Dudley; grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, Michael, Wayne, Colleen, Andrew and Leigh Ann Smith, and Megan Cansler; five great-grandchildren; brother, Lemuel Hardy and wife, Hazel, of Kinston; sisters-in-law, Georgia Hardy of Kinston and Katie Thompson of Goldsboro.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Spark Hardy.

The family will receive friends today from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and will be at the residence, 4520 US Hwy. 117 S. Alt., at other times.
