WILTON CARR CASTEEN

KENANSVILLE -- Wilton Carr Casteen, 84, Kenansville died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Duplin County, son of the late Samuel Wright and Beulah Teachey Casteen.

He was also predeceased by his brothers, Melvin Casteen, William Casteen, Norman Casteen and Alvin Casteen, and sisters, Roxie Hurd, Mary Usher, Eleanor Kissner and Nellie Gurganious.

Mr. Casteen was employed with the state of North Carolina for more than 40 years, and was a member of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church of Pink Hill.

Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, H. Marie Bradley Casteen; sons, Phillip Wayne Casteen (Sandra) of Warsaw and Nelson Carr Casteen (Betty Jane) of Wallace; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; sisters, Mildred Murray of Burgaw, Virginia Gurganious of Harrells and Effie Chestnutt of Wilmington; special sister-in-law, Flora Strickland of Seven Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace chapel, with pastor Don Craft officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service Wednesday evening until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Golden Grove Cemetery in Kenansville.
