SNOW HILL -- Jonathan Oscar Ballance, 77, formerly of Fremont, passed away Monday at Greendale Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation in Snow Hill.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St. in Fremont. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Ballance was born in Wayne County Sept. 25, 1933, to the late Oscar Lafayette Ballance and Alice Velma Minshew Ballance.
He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Gray and husband, S.M. Gray Jr., of Snow Hill; a nephew, Ken Gray and wife, Anita, of New Bern; a niece, Kelly Guard and husband, John, of Greenville; two great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
