GILBERT FLETCHER PATE
Died Sept. 19, 2011
Mr. Gilbert Fletcher Pate, 2704 Langston Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., formerly of Rowland, N.C., ascended to Heaven Sept. 19, at Century Care in Laurinburg, N.C.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Rowland United Methodist Church, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Rowland Cemetery.
Gilbert, a native of Robeson County, had a lifelong service to his church, several volunteer organizations, and had worked with the state of North Carolina in the food services division at Cherry Hospital for more than 22 years.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sherard Pate; his parents, George Fletcher and Leila Bullard Pate; a brother, Robert Frank Pate; a sister, Rebecca Pate Morris; and his brother-in-law, Lawrence Morris.
Mr. Pate is survived by his sister- in-law, Edna Bethea Pate, and seven nephews and nieces.

Gilbert's parting thought to everyone: "Christianity is similar to riding a bicycle, keep pedaling or fall."
Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home in Rowland.
