WILLIAMSTON -- Myrtle Elizabeth Garris, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston, N.C.
Ms. Garris was a resident of the Vintage Inn, an assisted living facility in Williamston, N.C., from 2007 to 2011. Previous to that time, she was a lifelong resident of LaGrange, N.C.
Ms. Garris enjoyed a successful career as a certified nursing assistant at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Goldsboro, N.C., attended Seven Springs High School and was the oldest member of Garris Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was the last surviving child of Barney J. Garris and Effie Tripp Garris.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Myrtle Elizabeth Garris will be held at Garris Chapel United Methodist Church in LaGrange, N.C., at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011.
