CORA LEE PATE BEAMON

Cora Lee Pate Beamon, 90, went to her heavenly home Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Mrs. Beamon was born Jan. 22, 1921, the daughter of the late Isadore and Lila Lancaster Pate, and was the widow of Charles Edwin Beamon.

Mrs. Beamon was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church since 1938, and was involved in many church activities.

She was employed as a floor supervisor for seven of her 10 years at Kress Department Store before going to Belk-Tyler, where she retired after 27 years of service at the age of 67.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Beamon will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Barry Williamson officiating.

Visitation will follow the service at the church, and burial will be at Lancaster Family Cemetery following the visitation.

Surviving are her daughter, Nelda Kaye Wasner of Weddington, N.C.; her son, Charles Keith Beamon and wife, Tam, of Selma; grandchildren, Stephanie Lowe, Holly Beamon and Matthew Beamon; and nieces and nephews, Betty Kearney, Joan Walker and James Person.

Mrs. Beamon was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by a sister, Pauline Walker; grandson, Paul Wasner; and a nephew, Frank Person.
