MOUNT OLIVE -- Nellie Rich Best Lee, 90, Maysville School Road in the Beautancus community, passed away Monday evening, Aug. 1, 2011, at Quinn Hospice Center in Kenansville.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Garris and the Rev. Paul Rose officiating.
Visitation will follow the service, and at other times, the family will be at the home of Bobby and Cathy Best, 500 Ivey Road,
Mount Olive.
Surviving family members include three sons, Robert H. "Bobby" Best Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Mount Olive, C. Nelson Best and his wife, Debbie, of Kenansville, and Douglas Best and his wife, Joyce, of Lucama; three daughters, Betty B. Reid and her companion, Oliver Maples of Pawleys Island, S.C., Linda B. Alphin and her husband, Jack, of Raleigh, and Wilma B. Taylor and her husband, Tommy, of Faison; a sister, Ruth R. Westbrook of Albertson; her longtime companion, Robert Justice of Kenly; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie B. Barfield; her two husbands, Robert Henry Best and David Olen Lee; her parents, Lewis Henry Rich and Ella Grant Rich; and her siblings, Orus N. Rich, Delmas Rich, Reva Rich, Lacy H. Rich, Carey G. Rich and Rachel R. Lee.
Mrs. Lee was a retired homemaker and a farmer's wife who became a farmer, and had enjoyed a tenure of employment in the cafeteria at Mount Olive College.
She was a member of Bear Marsh Baptist Church.
