Elder Serge Gonel, 61, 1317 N. Jefferson Ave., passed from labor to reward Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
His life and service to God and mankind will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Church Ministries, with apostle Stephanie Hart officiating. His mortal frame will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.
Loving memories are cherished by his devoted wife, Chrysta Toussaint Gonel of the home; his children, Richard Gonel of Johnson City, Tenn., Jennifer Carmel Gonel of Tampa, Fla., Michelle Gonel of Florida and Zaneta T. Gonel of Goldsboro; a granddaughter, Chelsea M.L. Gonel of Johnson City, Tenn.; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The visitation will be Friday from 2 to 6 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, where it will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
The family is being served by the Rev. Ernie Haskins, funeral director, Shumate Faulk Funeral Home.
