FREMONT -- Edwin H. Parks, 52, died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with rescue squad honors and rites, with pastor John Earnest officiating.

There will be a time to share with the family at the service.

Surviving is his mother, Margie West Parks of Goldsboro; daughter, Heather Sasser of Goldsboro; two sisters, Kay Parks Waters (Charles) and Ann Parks Thornton (Billy) both of Goldsboro; a very special friend, Darlene Godwin; two grandchildren; a niece; two nephews; a great-nephew; and two great-nieces.

His father, Mark H. Parks, preceded him in death

Edwin was safety director for Universal Leaf Tobacco Co. and chief of Fremont Rescue Squad, where he had worked for a number of years, and was an active member of the Rescue Association.

He was a member of Family of Faith Community Church.
