MARY K. BROWN

LUMBERTON -- Mary Kennedy Brown, 91, died Thursday at Woodhaven Nursing Center in Lumberton.

Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late William Wright and Dolly Byrd Kennedy, and the wife of the late Ellis Ray Brown of Smith Chapel community.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Smith Chapel Methodist Church, and attended Parkton Presbyterian Church for many years while residing with a daughter in Parkton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Leland Heath officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Family members will greet friends at the funeral home following the burial.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Tad Cates of Parkton and Judy and Mitchell Miles of Goldsboro and a son and daughter-in-law, Bill (Buddy) and Mary Brown of Weaverville. Mrs. Brown is also survived by three sisters, Ruby Parker and husband, James, of Calypso, Fay Kennedy and husband, Woodley, of Cary and Virginia Herring and husband, Alfred, of Clinton, and a sister-in-law, Mae Lee Kennedy of Mount Olive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Smith Chapel Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
