Larry D. Tobias, 50, of Roanoke and formerly of Goldsboro, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011.
A memorial service was conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Tobias; grandmother, Anna Beers; and grandfather, John Deetz. He is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Tobias, of Pikeville; his daughter, Brittany Tobias, of Roanoke; two grandchildren; brother, Steven Tobias, of Goldsboro; aunts, Sharon Beers, of LaGrange, and Debbie Deetz, of Dania, Fla. Special thanks to his friends Page Marshall, Grandin Van Marter, and Renee Mitchell.
Larry had a true appreciation for rock music, with a special interest in the bass guitar. He could answer virtually any music trivia question and loved learning about world geography. His beloved and spoiled-rotten dog, Brownie, will surely miss him. Larry was always the first to crack a joke or plan an innocent prank, whatever it took to bring a smile to your face. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Roanoke SPCA.
