JANE COLIE BRADSHAW
March 25, 1931-June 8, 2011
FARO -- Jane Colie Bradshaw passed away June 8, 2011, at her home in Faro, N.C. She celebrated her 80th birthday March 25, 2011.
She was born in Lenoir County, but resided in the Faro Community for her entire adult life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.B. Bradshaw; her parents, Sherman Colie and Lola Carter Colie; and her sister, Joyce Colie Southard.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Brooks Bradshaw and Lib Massey Bradshaw, Judy Bradshaw and Robert P. Pierce and Jan Bradshaw Norwood and Bill Norwood. She is survived by two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Thomas Wooten; a brother, J.F. Colie; and a brother Tom Colie and his wife, Betty Howard.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Margie Speight.
Mrs. Bradshaw was a retired school teacher, having taught at both Rosewood High School and Charles B. Aycock High School.
After retiring from teaching she continued working in family businesses, and continuously expressed a desire to work.
June 4, 2011, she attended her 63rd class reunion for graduates of New Hope High School, and had the opportunity to spend time with many lifelong friends.
She valued the principles of hard work and family, and was devoted to her parents, husband and children.
Her funeral will be held at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont, N.C., Friday, June 10, 2011, at 6 p.m., with visitation immediately following. A private burial service will be held at Bradshaw Cemetery Saturday at 10 a.m. for the immediate family.
