LONIE RADFORD WORRELL

Lonie Radford Worrell, 90, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Willow Creek Nursing Home.

Lonie was born in Wayne County July 15, 1920, to the late Arthur and Etta Cruse Radford. She was married to the late Carl Worrell.

Lonie got great pleasure in farming the land and taking care of her family.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to so many.

Lonie was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m., with the Rev. Danny Hamm and the Rev. Barry House officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Worrell Family Cemetery.

Lonie is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann Head and husband, Milton, of Goldsboro; her sons, William A. "Bud" Combs and wife, Betty Lou, of Goldsboro and Billy Ray Combs and wife, Frances, of Goldsboro; her stepdaughters, Selma Lee Whitley and husband, Ernest, of Wilson and Eleanor Gray Counch and husband, Glenn, of Fayetteville; her stepson, J.B. Worrell and wife, Christine, of Wilson; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Combs; a grandson, Bobby Head; and a brother, Alphonzo Radford.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Willow Creek Nursing Home and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care shown to their mother during her declining health.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 4009 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Shirley and Milton Head, 2508 N. William St., Goldsboro.
