William Earl Newkirk Jr., 58, died Saturday at Durham Regional VA Hospital.
He was born in Wayne County to the late William E. Sr. and Letha Jarmon Newkirk, and was married to Johnnie Louise Murray Newkirk.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
He is survived by five children.
