CHARLES E. BARNES SR.

Charles E. Barnes Sr., 79, of 808 N. Virginia St., departed this life on Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A service of remembrance will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Darden Chapel. Interment rites will follow in Old Mill Cemetery.

He was born on March 28, 1932, to the late Roselle and Annie Barnes. Charles was educated in the city and county public schools.

He was employed at Franklin Bakery for over 30 years, where he later retired. He was a hard worker and he instilled that in his boys. He always said "you never know what you can do until you try and trust in God." He was married to Annie Barnes Williams, their union produced two sons.

He leaves precious memories with his two sons, Charles (Paulishia) and Alonza, both of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Tramel and Jeremiah; one brother, H.B. (Bessie) Barnes; two sisters-in-law, Mamie Barnes of Goldsboro, and Elizabeth Barnes of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and special friends.

A viewing will be held today from 3 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Barnes physical temple is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
