Retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Andrew McKnight, 83, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
Andy was the son of the late Samuel and Edith McKnight of Glade Valley, N.C.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Juanita Higgins McKnight; son, Doyle Andrew McKnight and wife, Kelly, of Goldsboro; daughter, Debbie McKnight Smith of LaGrange; his sisters, Lucille Irwin and Morene Blevins both of Glade Valley; and five grandsons, Andrew Stephen McKnight of Greenville, Samuel Eric Smith of LaGrange, Benjamin Preston Smith of LaGrange, Daniel Bryan McKnight of Raleigh and Michael David McKnight of Raleigh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David McKnight, and two brothers, Edwin McKnight and Zane McKnight.
