MARY J. THOMPSON
March 18, 1918 - May 14, 2011
Mary Jones Thompson, age 93, passed away Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Jones County, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Nancy Jarman Jones, and the wife of the late James E. “Buster” Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro with Pastor Ronnie Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her son, Donald Lee Thompson of Jacksonville, FL and her daughter, Margaret Webber of Dudley; a sister, Alice Thompson of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Gansheimer, two brothers, and one sister.
