WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Mr. Elmon "Elmer" Claton Simmons, 76, 313 Channing St. N.E., Washington, D.C., formerly of Dudley, N.C., passed away Friday, April 22, 2011, at his residence in Washington, D.C.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 2 p.m. at First Congre-gational United Church of Christ Cemetery in Dudley, N.C., with the Rev. Harold Daniels officiating.

The viewing will be held Friday, April 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family receiving friends there from 6 to 7 p.m.

The family and friends will be received at all other times at 100 Lorease Drive, Dudley, N.C.

"Elmer" is survived by his loving and devoted family, including his mother, Mary Simmons Aldridge; three daughters, Veronica Simmons, Donnie Faye Armstrong (Terry) and Sandra Baker (Anthony Sr.); three grandchildren, Christopher Armstrong, Phillip Armstrong and Anthony Baker Jr.; five sisters, Delores Lorease Johnson, Andra B. Aldridge, Veronica V. Fennell (Ralph), Glenda M. Bryant (Carl) and Consuelo S. Baker (Horace); two brothers, Ellie Simmons Jr. and James Earl Aldridge Jr. (Irene); an uncle, Willie Russell Southerland; a sister-in-law, Peggy Simmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
