JOHN EARL "SHOTGUN" MURCHISON

Nov. 27, 1945-March 21, 2011

John Earl Murchison, 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was born to the late John and Purcell Murchison Nov. 27, 1945, in Wilson County.

He attended school in North Carolina.

Later he relocated to Connecticut to further his career as an entrepreneur. He traveled from state to state. "Poppa was a Rolling Stone, where he laid his hat was his home."

He was well-known and loved through all. He touched lives everywhere he went. His faith in the lord was very deep rooted, and now Heaven will be his Eternal Home.

His fond memories will forever be cherished by many such as his daughters, Earlene (Jesse) Tomlin and Maria Murchison of Wilson, N.C., and Tomekia Ford, Earlene Ford, Nikki Ford, Krystal Murchison and Tiarra Murchison all of New Britain Conn.; sons, James E. Ford and Jabari Murchison of Goldsboro, N.C., Quamie Franklin of Fla., and John E. Murchison of Connecticut; sisters, Pauline Hocutt of Salem, Pearl (Thomas) Donalds of Kenly, Eva Mae (Charles) Broadie of Chapel Hill and Mary Leftwridge, Louise Banks and Helen Murchison all of Goldsboro, N.C.; brothers, Izull and Charles Murchison of Goldsboro, N.C.; aunt, Ruth Darden of Fremont, N.C.; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends; and the special mothers of his beloved children, Betty Hudson of North Carolina, Virginia Cooley of Connecticut and Connie Franklin, Angela Murchison and Tammy Rowe, all of North Carolina.

The service of remembrance will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Central Heights Free Will Baptist Church.

Following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Murchison, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Old Mill Cemetery for interment rites.

The family will receive friends at E.M Matthews Funeral Home Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
