EUREKA -- Ann Theresa Godwin, 72, 108 W. Martin St., born Oct. 4, 1938, went to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ March 22, 2011.

She was very active in her local community with Meals-On-Wheels. She established the National Day of Prayer in Fremont, N.C. She and her husband co-founded Cornerstone Assembly of God in Fremont, N.C.

She was a retired postal service clerk, and also a United States Air Force veteran.

She married the love of her life, Everette Overton Godwin "Buck," and they had been married for 52 years. She is also survived by three sons, Everette Dennis Godwin of Goldsboro, Kenneth Roy Godwin and wife, Judy, of Pikeville and Michael James Godwin and wife, Lynn, of Pikeville; a sister, Marian and husband, Philip Woodward, of Avon, N.J.; brother-in-law, Edward Young of Verona, N.J.; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Godwin of Wilson.

She was blessed with eight grandsons and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Denis and Helen McSweeney of Queens, N.Y., and a younger sister, Patricia Young of Verona, N.J.

Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont, N.C., Friday, March 25, 2011, at 6 p.m., with visitation following the service. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Travis Moore and the Rev. Scott Ezzell. Burial will be at Eureka Cemetery Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cornerstone Assembly of God Dream Fund and to Gideon's International, two ministries very dear to her heart.
