Morris U. Jester, 73, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011.

Morris was born in Quinby, Va., Feb. 2, 1938, to the late Delmas W. and Maude M. Jester.

He graduated from Virginia Beach High School. He attended Guilford College before transferring to Atlantic Christian College, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education.

He was employed with Howell Oil Co. and Harrelson Rubber Co., and retired with Wayne County Public Schools.

Morris spent his entire life serving others, and touched the lives of countless young people in the Wayne County Public School system. He was a beloved coach and mentor to many.

Morris was a fun-loving man and he could always put a smile on your face. He enjoyed playing golf and visiting the Eastern Shore where he grew up.

He was a loving, caring man devoted to his family and friends. He will be missed by many, especially his brothers at the Goldsboro Elks Lodge No. 139 B.P.O.E.

Morris is survived by his wife, Emily H. Jester; a son and wife, Bond and Marsha Jester of Pikeville; a daughter and husband, Jill and Senior Master Sgt. Stephen Campbell of Colorado Springs; a stepgrandson, Ashley Carter and wife, Karla, of Pikeville; three granddaughters, Amanda Jester of Princeton, Haley Campbell and Hannah Campbell of Colorado Springs; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Ashton and Elizabeth Carter of Pikeville,; a great-grandson, Matthew Waters of Princeton; two brothers, Wayne B. Jester and wife, Cynthia, of Onancock, Va., and Delmas Jester of Kissimmee, Fla. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Morris was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Vanette Jester.

Visitation will be Tuesday night, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Willow Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Danny Hamm officiating.
