Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, while surrounded by his loving family, Douglas Davis, 71, went to be with his Lord and savior.

He was a native of Wayne County, and was born to the late Denver and Nannie Davis.

He retired as a real estate transfer officer with the Wayne County Tax Office with 31 years of service.

He was a faithful worshiper at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, and member of the Jack Bedford Sunday school class.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, E. Stanley Davis and wife, Phyllis, of Goldsboro; a daughter, Lisa Royall and husband, Bill, of Goldsboro; and grandchildren, Christopher Davis, Victoria Royall, Matthew Davis and Rebekah Royall. He is also survived by his loving brother, Wiley Davis and wife, Beulah, of Goldsboro; his niece, Deborah Grimes, of Goldsboro; and nephew, Gregg Davis and wife, Cindy, of Pikeville. He will also be remembered by his faithful special friend, Rachel Langley, and family of Kenly.

A service honoring his life will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Family will receive friends and family immediately following the service.

The interment will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will also receive visitors at the home of his daughter, Lisa Royall at 611 Tanglewood Lane, Goldsboro, on the days prior to the funeral. After the interment, the family will receive visitors in the home of his son, Stan Davis at 106 Planters Place, Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Gerald Brown, 187 Vance Drive, Goldsboro, 27534, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro.
