MARGARET PARKER ALLEN

Mrs. Margaret Parker Allen, 86, of 12011 Green Ridge Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., and formerly of 1505 Peachtree St., was called home to be with the Lord on Dec. 22, 2010.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Born April 7, 1924, in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late John Ray Parker and Ella Melton Parker. She married Lewis Grant Allen in 1940 and worked those early years as a telephone operator in Norwood. When her husband re-enlisted in the military in 1957, they made their home in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Itazuke AFB, Japan, Goldsboro, Loring AFB, Maine, and Lackland AFB, Texas. While in Japan, she was the director of the Teen Club, where her son and daughter were members. After her husband's retirement from the Air Force, they made their home in Goldsboro. She was active in her church, St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Goldenaires. She was known for her baking and shared many cakes and pies with her friends. After the death of her husband, she lived the last few years of her life with her daughter and son-in-law, Sheron and Paul Wolf, in Waynesboro, Pa.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Lewis Allen of Goldsboro; a sister, Mildred Parker; four brothers, Hoyle Parker, John Parker, and Charles Parker all of Norwood, and Fred Parker of Chapel Hill; and a great-grandson, Eric Nixdorf of Conastoga, Pa.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheron and Paul Wolf of Waynesboro, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
